Winnipeg Jets unveil reimagined logo embroidered with Ukrainian heritage | CBC News
Ukraine's national identity, cultural heritage and history have been incorporated into a new Winnipeg Jets logo, unveiled ahead of the team's first night celebrating Manitoba's Ukrainian community.
The logo, unveiled on Wednesday, was designed by Andrii Sobchuk, a Ukrainian graphic design artist who fled to Canada after the war broke out in 2022.
Sobchuk's take on the Winnipeg Jets logo includes the geometric patterns that are embroidered on the sleeves of Vyshyvankas, traditional Ukrainian shirts, and on the edge of Rushnyks, woven towels.
The patterns are tinted in blue and yellow reflecting on the colours of the Ukrainian flag, and also nodding to the sky and wheat fields, elements that hold significant meaning for Manitobans and Ukrainians, True North Sports and Entertainment said in a news release.
