Despite Russia’s ongoing war, rugby in Ukraine keeps growing – The Ukrainian Weekly

Along with every aspect of life in the war-torn country, the sport of rugby has struggled to survive since the February 2022 Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Some rugby players were killed, while others were forced to flee their homeland. Stadiums, facilities and pitches were destroyed by missiles, creating a bleak future for all those involved in the sport.
However, just as people throughout Ukrainian have done, those involved in Ukrainian rugby have shown bravery, patience and resilience. Overcoming immense hardships, they have sent a clear message that they are prepared to fight for a brighter future.
